In response to the Lancet study showing any amount of alcohol is bad for you.
Laura Willoughby MBE, co-founder of the mindful drinking community Club Soda said:
“Conflicting medical studies make it very hard for people to make their own choices about how much they want to drink. But the good news is it really won’t do you any harm to cut down or alcohol-free.
Our main concerns are that these studies fuel debates about guidelines – but guidelines are not the real issue here in the UK. It is tinkering around the edges.
We want scientist and the Government to be more engaged in looking at how we effectively support the 1 in 5 people who know they want to change their habits.
Very little research has been done on how we support motivated individuals to make the change they want. Focusing on this is more likely to make a significant impact on people’s lives.
The boffins need to get out and talk to people more!”
