Spend an evening with Queers Without Beers and the London LGBTIQ+ film festival!
Our co-founder, Laura Willoughby and BFI Flare Festival’s Michael Blyth will be discussing this year’s festival.
Michael Blyth is the Senior Programmer for BFI Flare and a Film Programmer for the BFI London. He contributes to various print and online publications, specialising in queer cinema and the horror genre and is also a published author.
Michael and Laura will chat about this year’s season, which is the first festival to have been curated to be viewed totally online. Despite the move online the finished festival has ‘the same spirit’ and feels very much as the live festival would, which the FLARE team are very proud of. Laura will look into the process of selecting films to create a balanced festival and Michael will share his top picks.
This year’s festival is divided up into Hearts, Bodies, Minds and Shorts, and has developed an organic sub-theme of LGBTIQ+ people through history both locally and internationally.
As always the festival has a free to access element with all 40 Shorts being free to the public, maintaining the ethos of the live event.
The event is FREE and open to everyone from our mailing lists, FB Meetup groups, their friends, family, pets and relatives! We also have a lovely prize of a case of 12 mixed alcohol-free beers donated by the fabulous people at Fungtn. To win the prize you need to answer the following question in advance of the event:
What was the name of the very first London LGBTIQ+ Film Festival?
Please email your answer to firstname.lastname@example.org by the 8th March and Michael will announce a winner on the day.
If you would like to ask any questions you can email Josh or bring them with you on the night.
To join us you’ll need the Zoom code, something to nibble, a fabulous AF drink and a couple of free hours. You don’t need to book or reserve a place, just follow the Zoom link and register for your automatic admittance code.
We’ll let you in at 7.30 pm ready to start the event at 7.45 pm.
See you on Wednesday 10th March for a Fantabulosa time Duckies!
