If you love dancing and hate hangovers, it’s good news! There has been a sober dance explosion in the UK, for people who are tired of hangovers and turned off by expensive bars. At sober dance events, focus is firmly on the music and the moves. From morning workout dances to dance meditation, there are loads to choose from all over the UK. If you have a sober lifestyle but still fancy tearing up the dancefloor, check out our favourite sober dance events below!

SLIP – See Love In People


SLIP brings a healthy approach to love, music and work. They believe that for the best party experience, the best way to really get to know new people and to fully appreciate the music is to be without substances. They know that bringing the energy of wanting to interact with people to a party rather than booze make for the best evenings ever!

Choose Yr Own Adventure

What: A Queer&LGBT dance party welcoming people of all genders, sexualities, ages and bodies. The place to be for anyone who wants a night out without alcohol or intoxicants. They only have events every so often – check out their next one here.
When: Their next dance party is Saturday 20th May 2017 at 8pm-midnight
Where: DIY Space for London, South east London
How much: Membership is required which is £2. After, standard tickets are £4.

Morning Gloryville

What: An early morning based sober rave which has grown from one initial event in London in 2013 to events in 17 different cities worldwide. Hundreds of people attend each event, in Yogawear, Neon Dayglow outfits or fancy dress and go crazy for pumping classics on the dance floor at 7am in the morning, just as the rest of the city is waking up.
When: Wednesday Mornings, 6:30am-10;30am

What: You Are You Be You is London’s ecstatic dance and meditation Community, where you are encouraged to be yourself and connect with others. After two hours of frantic dancing and optional partner interaction, the experience often ends with a soothing gong bath, incense and candles.
When: Selected Fridays, 8:30-10:30pm

We Are One Positivity Raves

What: A Sober Rave night started by the Hypnotherapist, Tom Fortes Mayer which has the aim of re-creating the ecstatic feeling of oneness you might have once felt whilst dancing on drugs, whilst completely sober through hypnotizing the audience with spoken intentions while they meditate. Whether or not the ‘Science’ works it definitely does get people moving! Add to that dance floor classics, lasers and TFM himself on stage in a disco ball helmet and you have a night not to be missed!
When: Saturday night once a month, 7:30pm-midnight

Dancing Tao

What: Sweaty fun in the tradition of the 5 Rhythms movement, this is highly recommended for an introduction to 5 Rhythms, the dance meditation practice created by Gabrielle Roth which explores the five dancing states of  Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness.
When: Every Thursday 6:30-10:30pm

What: 5Rhythms is a dynamic movement practice, promoting creativity and connection. While a seemingly simple process, the 5Rhythms practice facilitates deep and unending explorations, moving the dancer beyond limitations into new depths of understanding.

Sweat and Sound 

What: Sweat and Sound is a secret pop-up fitness event for music lovers and creative spirits alike. They offer a workout for people who want to engage with all their senses, and are open to all ages, genders and abilities. They promise “euphoric live music, sensory installations and treats”!
When: Classes take place regularly
Where: London, specific location kept secret until a few days before!
