Men, it’s time to beat stress!
We know that stress can be a major trigger for excessive alcohol use. And that men are not always so good at dealing with their emotions. Anything that might help is therefore very welcome, and we are happy to talk about one such support today, on Men’s Health Week in the UK.
Men’s Health Forum, a charity working to improve the health of boys and men, have recently launched their new Beat Stress Service. It is an online mental health support service for men, open to all but aimed especially for men in their middle years. These middle years can be a time of significant pressures and stresses. “Midlife Crisis” is the most visited mental health page on the Men’s Health Forum website, and many men are actively searching for ways to better manage their stress levels.
The Beat Stress Service is about tackling any niggling stress before it becomes something more serious. It is a free, confidential and anonymous service. The webchat lines are open on all Wednesdays from 7pm-10pm, and an email service is available 24 hours a day (though it may take up to 48 hours to get a response). The service is staffed by professionals with expertise in supporting people with their mental health and wellbeing.
The website also hosts the Men’s Health Forum’s male mental wellbeing information pages, with listings of other sources of support.
The Beat Stress Service can be found at beatstress.uk.
