Laine Brew Co King Limbo
Laine Brew Co are based in Brighton and have a number of fantastic pubs to visit, boasting good alcohol-free options. King Limbo is their new 0.5% IPA, brewed with Citra, Columbus, Mosaic & Summit hops. You can expect a fruity malt base, with plenty of tropical and citrus fruit aromas and flavours from the hops.
Mead has long been a favourite beverage of mine, but I never expected to find an alcohol-free version. But then along came Bemuse, with an astonishing range of alcohol-free meads. Complex honey profile is balanced with bright apple acidity. They make a few flavours, each using a different honey and flavour combination, one of the most exciting products to hit the market this year. We will be tasting the tarragon, basil, and hops mead, which has a subtle bitterness, fresh herbaceous character, and a delicate carbonation.
Another brand working with bees, Keeprs is Infused with 12 carefully balanced botanicals and their signature 100% British honey from their own hives. Keepr’s Ultra Low Alcohol Gin & Tonic flavoured drink combines the complexity of juniper and citrus for a clean, crisp taste. Hints of coriander and cardamom add herbaceous and spice notes while natural quinine delivers the distinct flavour of a classic gin and tonic.
Nunc Kombucha Mango Buzz
Nunc have released their first seasonal kombucha just in time for Summer. This one is called Mango Buzz, a zingy taste sensation. Mango Buzz is made by fermenting Sencha green tea with raw honey from Buckinghamshire. This is then cold infused with organic mango, ginger, organic turmeric and organic white peppercorns. This low-calorie infusion is perfect for the warmer weather.
Good Karma Beer Co – Love That Feeling Hefeweizen
Steve has been involved in creating some of the best alcohol-free drinks we’ve ever tasted, and his brewery Good Karma are doing a fantastic job of creating alcohol-free beers in a range of styles. Hefeweizens are well suited to being alcohol-free, the wheat helps to create a full bodied pour. Love That Feeling has all the characteristics you’d expect from the style, herbaceous notes, some bright citrus flavour, and subtle spice.
Chateaux Del ISH Sparkling White
This Sparkling White has a honey-forward nose and notes of citrus, green apple, pear and peach. A blend of Pinot Blanc and Silvaner grapes bring an initial sweetness that transforms on the palate to a wonderful, refreshing acidity, making this one perfect for sipping solo or with a meal. You could even mix this with the Crodino for a refreshing spritz, serve in a big wine glass over ice with a wedge of orange. Perfection.
Crodino is an Italian aperitivo from the town of Crodo, it’s owned by the Campari group. Aperitivos make for some of the best alcohol-free drinks, they make use of herbs and carry a bitterness that creates big, bold, slow-sipping flavour, no need for the alcohol. If you’ve previously been a fan of Aperol and Campari, then this one is for you.
Henry Chevallier Guild, eighth generation cyder and vinegar maker at Aspall. A desire to moderate his alcohol consumption brought him into the orbit of shrubs; a drink made by steeping fruit in vinegar. NonSuch Shrubs are truly versatile and can be used to build delicious alcohol-free cocktails, or mixed with sparkling waters and tonics to create delicious, complex, grown-up drinks. (Please note, these will be 50ml sample sizes).
