Winter drinks alcohol-free mulled wine and vegan eggnog

Alcohol-free mulled wine and vegan eggnog recipes for the holidays

As the holidays are getting closer, we wanted to share two of our favourite wintery drink recipes, specially created by our Tasting Room manager Nicolas. Mulled wine and eggnog are traditional Christmas drinks, and now you can enjoy tasty alcohol-free (and vegan) versions of them too.

Alcohol-free mulled wine recipe

Mulled wine is always a big favourite at the Tasting Room when the weather turns colder in December and this year has been no exception.

Ingredients:

1 bottle of alcohol-free red wine
200ml Gimber
1 cinnamon stick
3 star anise
Cloves
200 ml honey
1 sliced orange
3 sliced mandarins

Heat everything together in a pan and serve warm. For the red wine, we use Adnams Cabernet Tempranillo in the Tasting Room, but most alcohol-free wines will do, for example Noughty Rouge. This recipe makes 10 servings (of about 100 ml each). You can reduce the amount of Gimber and honey to make a less sweet version than ours, to suit your taste.

Alcohol-free vegan eggnog recipe

This year we have added a chilled winter drink to accompany the warm mulled wine. Eggnog is traditionally made with milk, cream and egg, but we have put together a vegan version that tastes just as good.

Ingredients:

1 l almond milk
500 ml coconut milk
200 ml maple syrup
200 ml soya cream
20ml Oggs Aquafaba (or the liquid from a can of chick peas)
1 cinnamon stick
3 star anise
Cloves

Simmer everything together, until the liquid starts to boil. Strain and chill.

To serve, mix 80ml of the chilled eggnog mix with 50ml of your favourite alcohol-free spirit. In the Tasting Room we use Myth Spiced Dark Cane spirit.
