The Next Round: What happens after you change your drinking?

Kahol Malt Abbey

Inspired by smoky, peated Scotch whiskey. Oak, apple, pear, dark honey, leather and tobacco combine to create a superlative alcohol-free whisky.

Serving suggestion: Drink neat, on the rocks or with a soda or ginger ale.

Kahol are attempting to retrace the footsteps of the Babylonian alchemists.  Babylonian distillation apparatus was initially used to make ‘kohl‘, the spectacular eyeliner of the Pharoahs.  The apparatus itself became known as ‘al kahol‘ (“the spirit”), from which we derive the modern word for alcohol.

Kahol’s spirits start life as full-strength alcoholic spirits. They then undergo a secondary fermentation process to convert the alcohol into acetic acid, followed by an extended period of barrel ageing and botanical infusion to express flavours and mouth-feel.
