After nearly a decade of crafting multi-award-winning gin at their waterside distillery in Salcombe, the Salcombe Distilling Co. team of expert distillers ventured into the fast-growing No and Low category.Â
New London Light is a collection of three non-alcoholic spirits and aperitifs led by taste and inspired by adventure. Marking the start of Salcombe Distilling Co.’s adventure into the non-alcoholic world, their non-alcoholic spirit New London Light First Light launched with critical acclaim in 2020. New London Light Midnight Sun’ is inspired by the rugged Nordic coastline and New London Light ‘Aegean Sky’ is influenced by the sun-soaked Mediterranean shores of the Aegean Sea. Exploring the indigenous botanicals and flavours that can be found in each region, created the foundation for the unexpected flavour combinations used to craft these exceptional aperitifs. Since launching the two new flavours in 2021, New London Light is now the exclusive non-alcoholic spirit partner in Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses, stocked in the likes of Waitrose, John Lewis and Daylesford Farm Shop.Â
Every expression in the collection has won a Gold award at the Beverage Testing Institute Awards 2022 and ‘First Light’ was also awarded the Mindful Drinking category at the People’s Choice Spirits Awards 2021. The team at Salcombe Distilling Co. are proud to craft a large part of the production process themselves using a rotary vacuum still at their waterside distillery in Salcombe. It is one of the only distilleries in the world directly accessible by boat, and they often forage for several ingredients from the rugged coastal paths and picturesque shorelines of the South Hams, so it is no surprise that their love of life on and around the water inspires all that they do. Every bottle sold makes our oceans healthier with 1% of every bottle sale donated to the Marine Conservation Society to protect and regenerate precious ocean habitats. Each New London Light bottle is sealed with a cellulose tamper-proof seal as opposed to more commonly used plastic and is also packaged with a stopper that is made from reclaimed ocean-bound plastics and is 100% recyclable.
