Moa Gürbüzer is a former family social worker with over two decades of experience. She mostly worked with alcohol-related family issues, seeing first-hand the detrimental effects of alcohol on communities. She was shocked by how recurrent so many of the issues were and realised there needed to be a structural change. She quit her job and started Oddbird in 2013. Her vision was to change the alcohol norms of society with world-class wines that are liberated from alcohol.
Oddbird is the largest producer of alcohol-free wines in Scandinavia. Their premium wines are made using traditional methods and matured for up to 12 months, then gently liberated from alcohol in order to preserve the flavours nature intended. For Oddbird, being liberated from alcohol does not only describe the removal of the substance, it also describes the liberation from our drinking culture. Liberation from norms and the preconceived notion that alcohol is an integral part of celebratory occasions. Liberation is the ability to choose between with or without alcohol.
