Laura shares 10 Things to Do at the Mindful Drinking Festival
This year’s Mindful Drinking Festival is bigger and better than ever before. Over 50 brands. Some amazing FREE events, and even three cocktail masterclasses in Be At One. Here are our top 10 things to do at the Fest!
MEET A TOP BEER SOMMELIER
Jane Peyton is the UK’s top beer writer and sommelier. She will take you through the beers at the festival and a few favourites from co-host Wise Bartender. The tasting starts at 12 noon, upstairs in Patisserie Valerie cafe and is FREE. If you want to buy the beers afterwards, use code clubsodavip at Wise Bartender for a discount.
TRY 10 NEW ALCOHOL FREE SPIRITS (yes 10!)
There are seven new botanicals to mix with Fever Tree Tonics, and three premixed bottles.
Fever-Tree are running two introduction sessions to this new wave of drinks upstairs in Patisserie Valerie. Hear the stories of people who made the drinks, and try a perfect serve. Get there quick at 1.30pm or 4.15pm.
Heineken® 0.0 are bringing along games galore, so challenge your mates to giant connect four, Jenga or quoits. May the soberest challenger win!
Missing the beach? Then grab some chips from Poppies, relax on a deck chair, and wiggle your toes in the micro-beaches we have dotted about the square.
DANCE or ROCK OUT
So much to say!!! Morning Gloryville (those awesome early morning ravers) will get the party started from 11am. Then we have great live music from Polly Money and Jay Johnson. Broken Dollars will be telling us a little more about their tie-up with Rok Soba, as well as performing some awesome music. We end the day with Amy and Eric, two DJs who prove you don’t have to be smashed to bang out some awesome tunes.
DRINK UNTIL YOU BURST
Did I say we have 50 brands? You can try them all and stock up your fridge at home (don’t worry, we have teamed up with Big Drop to provide you with a free canvas bag!). We have everything: beers, spirits, wines, kombucha, shrubs, shandies, sodas, juices, cider…
There are toilets at the Market and at Patisserie Valerie in case you need them.
NEW FRIENDS GUARENTEED
Coming alone? Don’t worry, we have that covered. Club Soda members are setting up shop near the information desk to welcome friends new and old. So if you are coming from a sober/mindful community (like One Year No Beer, Soberistas, or Queers Without Beers) there will be the warmest welcome awaiting you.
MIX IT UP
At 3pm, 4pm and 5pm, cocktail bar Be At One on the square will be hosting an alcohol-free cocktail masterclass in their bar. So grab a bit of shade for a while, head inside, and learn how they make some of their amazing range of zero% concoctions, and try one or two yourself.
Food, Food, Food
Whilst there is lots of food at the market for you to grab and bring back to the Festival, you will be pleased to know that Redemption Bar is popping up on the square for the day, serving their amazing vegan and sugar-free food. Patisserie Valerie will also be serving their beautiful ice cream. Top Tip: these foods all pair with ALL the drinks at the festival. Our expertise knows no bounds!
DISCOVER THE FUTURE YOU
Us two Club Soda co-founders, Laura and Jussi, still think changing our drinking habits was the best thing we did (Jussi is a mindful drinker, Laura has gone alcohol free). If we could have known how happy the future us was going to be, we would have done it sooner. If you want to have a chat about your own future with less alcohol, then pop in to our Fortune Telling Tent on the square, and speak to an expert counsellor from Drink Coach, or a Club Soda member, and ask all the questions you have always wanted to ask.
