Genie Drinks founders, old friends Alex and Bill, met for a catch up in a pub. It was 7pm. Weekday. 2017. Wanting a soft drink to quench their thirst, they were underwhelmed by the options available. The soft drinks menu in the gastro pub looked uninspiring, with no modern options, just the same old sugary drinks, none of which appealed… they wished for a modern adult soft drink, with a flavour profile like Kombucha. So, they quit their jobs, and started creating Kombucha flavours, perfect for modernising soft drink menus!
Since they launched in 2019, Genie drinks have won 8* Great Taste stars, and are now a Great Taste Producer. Genie originally launched their drinks in glass bottles, but moved to printed cans in 2023 which are more efficient to chill, lighter to transport and easier to recycle than glass. They also plant trees, and have so far planted almost 5,000.
