The Co-Founder/Master Distiller of Mahala started experimenting in her distillery in Cape Town during lockdown as there was a ban on alcohol. Danielle created an Award Winning Triple Distilled Botanical Spirit in her distillery called Mahala which means ‘Free’ in Zulu. For Mahala, that means free from alcohol, sugar, gluten and animal products as well as free from artificial flavourings.
Mahala Botanical won the Best In Class No/Low at the Michelangelo International Wines & Spirits Awards. The brand employs two previously disadvantaged employees at the Distillery in Cape Town and supports the Sparrow Society, which employs township ladies working safely from home to create all of their branded bags ethically and sustainably.
